10th Wedding Anniversary

Being married for 10 years in today's modern, Hollywood society is quite an achievement. Not withstanding the fact that the majority of couples do get divorced within five years after their marriage ceremony, there are often financial hardships, health issues, infidelity concerns, and whole other wide range of issues that prevent couples from reaching their 10th anniversary. If you are about to celebrate your 10th wedding anniversary then you should not only be proud, but you should be using this as a time to make a renewed commitment to your partner.

Comparing a 10th anniversary to a couple who has been married fifty or sixty years, your whole marriage may seem incredibly short. However, you probably have still been through ups and downs during those 10 years, especially if you got married as a young couple right out of high school. Indeed, even though your 10th anniversary may seem short to some, the true length of time that you've been married must include the difficult situations that you've had to deal with, the obstacles that you've had to face, and everything else that has happened in your life just to reach your 10th wedding anniversary.

The Meaning of your 10th

So what does your 10th wedding anniversary mean then? For many couples, their 10th anniversary means that they've spent 10 long and fruitful years growing as a couple. Perhaps you have witnessed your loved one in a different light in those 10 years; perhaps you have had some financial troubles that you have had to get through together; perhaps you've bought a brand new house; or perhaps you've had a couple children. Whatever the case, the meaning of your 10th wedding anniversary is essentially the emotional value that you've placed on growing and maturing together as a couple in all different types of situations.

Naturally then, since you have successfully been married for 10 years then you should do something spectacular to celebrate! Many couples are still relatively young when they celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. If you're only in your 20s or 30s then it's still not too late to spend your wedding anniversary at an amusement park resort if you love roller coasters! Your kids can be taken care of by grandparents or other friends who also place a high value on 10th wedding anniversaries and know what an achievement that is!

Yet another romantic idea that would really renew your commitment to each other would be to have a second wedding that is just as memorable as the first was. In fact, many couples decide to do this for their 10th anniversary because they may not have had enough money to have as big of a wedding ceremony and reception on their original wedding date.

All in all, the choices you make and the celebrations you have on your 10th wedding anniversary will stay with you for the rest of your marriage. If you truly love your spouse then you'll do everything that you can in order to have a great celebration day for your 10th anniversary!
